The stone in my bracelet whined louder and louder. I rounded the corner, and it hushed, so I spun on my heel and ran the other way, kicking open the double door at the end of the hall.
“Are you trying to destroy the universe? Or just to satisfy your curiosity?”
Callista ignored me, focusing on my bracelet. “How does that work?”
Which answered my question. I tapped my bracelet, silencing the whine. “I’m not a scientist, remember?”
She shrugged, returning her attention to the wardrobe that shimmered between us. An Ehrlich Box. After all Noel’s warnings, she’d gone and built an Ehrlich Box.
“We need to destroy it.”
“Too late.”
The door of the wardrobe burst open, and a man staggered out, collapsing at my feet. “Adhira,” he croaked, staring up at me. “Find me.” Then he closed his eyes.
Callista came around to my side of the wardrobe. “Do you know this guy?”
“No.” Unless an overwhelming sense of deja vu counted as knowing someone.
